Hongam Nacheol(弘巖 羅喆, 1863~1916) originated the Daejong-Gyo in 1909, which values the 'Dan-gun Hanbae-geom(=大皇祖; the Great King of the kings, Heaven's God) thought'. He is the one who proclaimed the ‘Manifestation of Dan-gun's lecture(檀君敎佈明書)'. His posthumous works made it possible to catch the fact that the name of the Dan-gun Hanbae-geom was put on record in about 45 synonyms, depending on the situation of the current age and history's change.
It was found this name was used in terms of Seonga, Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and Koreanology etc, which is a very interesting phenomenon because it reflects the situation of those's times. Furthermore, the contemplation thought, current progress of contemplation, knowledge about the modern age and pedigree of Confucianism, Buddhism and Seonkyo(仙敎), which Nacheol ranged over, are expressed just as they are.
Something about the Manifestation of Dan-gun's lecture we should give notice is the nations re-enlightenment(重光) thought which is re-clarified in the view of spiritual and cultural history. The kernel of the content summarizes to eight theses: The ①Thought of a united world(世界一家) ② Incarnation of Hanbae-geom(大皇祖 聖肉身) ③Trinity thought(三神一體思想) ④Hanbae-geom Worship(大皇祖 崇拜) ⑤Top of religions as the Great Lecture and the Great Way(大敎大道) ⑥Dan-gun chronic(檀君祖實事) through the Tao pedigree(道淵源) ⑦Dan-gun's disciples(檀君聖賢) Worship(崇高思想鼓吹) ⑧Encouraging good and punishing evil(勸善懲惡). The focus is on discovering afresh his idea by comparing those theses with Nacheol's posthumous works.
His contemplation thought denotes the Sambeob suhaeng(=three methods of one's behavior pattern) and what he insisted on were the five principles (①敬奉天神, ②誠修靈性, ③愛合種族, ④靜求利福, ⑤勤務産業). Sambeob suhaeng denotes Jigam(止感; to stop feeling), Joshik(調息; to breathe evenly) and Keumchock(禁觸; to forbid touching). Jigam signifies the study of dismissing worldly thoughts from one's mind, while Keumchock denotes keeping away from miscellaneous affairs. Joshik is what makes these symmetric changes into one and again turns that one into naught. This may be a point that nobody covered up until now.
Nacheol claimed that it is a Mangbonbaewon(亡本背原; to forget and turn one's back to the origin) to forget the spiritual and cultural awareness of Hanbae-geom. The reason is that the people and mankind prosper only if the idea of Heaven's God comes to rise. Nacheol called upon changing the historical consciousness from the peninsula-historical aspect to the continent-historical aspect.
What he presents and what questions he leaves us today were observed in Nacheol's philosophy of life. This thesis analysed Nacheol's contemplation thought from a point of view of philosophy of religion and therefore recovered the significance in a new light, which is also a focus of this thesis. The part that remains uncovered, due to the lack of concrete materials, is a question we should solve in the very future.
