The study of Russian historiography toward the problem of Korea in Russia’s policy shows that Russia has accumulated a considerable result of Korean studies for the past 110 years and historical cognition for the Russian’s policy in problem of Korea was very diverse.
The history of Russian studies toward the problem of Korea in Russia’s policy can be divided into three respective periods: ① before the bolshevik revolution(1894~1917) ② after revolution until Russia(1917~1990) ③ before Russia(1991-). And each period produced a specific trend of Russian studies toward Korea, reflecting the political and ideological situation of the given times.
At the same time Russian studies’ development toward the problem of Korea in Russia’s policy there still remain problems. Especially, we should make clear the political power group in Russia in the end of 19th and the early of 20th centuries. At that time in Russia leaders of the political power group were Grand Duke Aleksandr Mikhailovich, Bezobrazov A.M., Witte S.Iu., Kyropatkin A.N., so we should make a close investigation into their policy for the Far East before the Russo-Japanese War.
