The purpose of this study was to examine to what extent the basic physical fitness of students would be affected by a self- directed differentiated training program, which was projected for the systematic and synthetic development of the basic physical fitness and actually used for circulation exercise between warming up and main exercise in physical education class. The subject in this study were 220 first-grade girl students in middle school, who were divided into an 1l0-member experimental group and an 100-member control group. In data analysis, t-test was conducted and the level of significance was set at p<.05. The findings of this study were as follows:
Before the experiment, there were no significant discrepancies between the experimental and control groups in every sporting event. However, the experiment brought evident changes to the two groups.
1) 50M Running Test
The experimental group's 50m running record shortened by 0.70 sec.(p<.05), from 9.63 sec. in pretest to 8.93 sec. in posttest. That of the control group was reduced by 0.45 sec.(p<.05), from 9.67 sec. to 9.22 sec. The experimental group made a 0.29 sec. more improvement than the control group(p<.01) after the experiment.
2) Flexed Arm Hang Test
The experimental group's flexed arm hang record rised by 4.29 sec., from 8.93 sec. in pretest to 13.22 sec. in posttest. But the control group showed any significant changes. Therefore, the experimental group got better record by 3.44 sec.(p<.001, compared to the control group.
3) Sit Up Test
The experimental group's sit up record increased by 5.89 times(p<.01), from 21.19 times in pretest to 27.08 in posttest, whereas there was no significant difference in the control group. After the experiment, the experimental group made a better record by 5.76 times(p<.001) than the control group.
4) Standing Broad Jumping Test
The experimental group's record rised by 20.28㎝(p<.,001, from 140.28㎝ in pretest to 160.76㎝ in posttest, and the control group's record increased by 6.25㎝(p<.01), from 141.02㎝ to 147.27㎝. The experimental group made more improvement by 13.40㎝(P<.001).
5) Trunk Sit and Reach Flexion Test
The experimental group got a 3.16㎝ better record(p<.05) in posttest, up to 17.21㎝ from 14.05㎝. But there was no significant change in the control group. Therefore, the experimental group made a 2.29㎝ better record(p<.05), compared to the control group.
6) 1200M Running-Walking Test
The experimental group's record got shorter by 56 sec.(p<.001), from 7'27" to 6'31." And the control group's record was reduced by 13 sec.(p<.05), from 7''2B'' to 7'15". So, the experimental group attained a 44sec. better record(p<.01) than the control group.
7) Class of Physical Fitness
The experimental group's class of physical fitness was upgraded by 0.36 class(p<.001), from 2.93 to 2.57, and the control group improved by 0.20 class(p<.05), from 2.95 to 2.75. The experimental group made more progress by 0.18 class(p<.01).
As shown above, there was initially no significant gap between the two groups in every sporting event After the experiment, however, the experimental group that used the training program made significantly better record by p<.05 or more in every event. Accordingly, the self-directed differentiated training program projected for the physical fitness enhancement actually served to facilitate the balanced development of the basic physical fitness of the students and eventually to develop their records.
