This study was aimed to compared the training effects of traditional training and weight training programs for leg strength of Korean dancers. Fourteen subjects were randomly assigned to traditional training group Ⅰ(n=7) and weight training group Ⅱ(n=7). The experimental data was analyzed by two-way ANOVA with repeated measure and significance level was p<.05.
The result of this study were as follows:
1. There was a significant differences in systolic blood pressure which was decreased from 119㎜Hg to 116㎜Hg at 4weeks and 111㎜Hg at 8weeks following 8weeks training program for group Ⅱ(p<.05).
2. There was a significant increased in extensor 60° peak torque isokinetic strength and relative isokinetic strength of group Ⅱ(p<.05).
3. There was a significant increased in flexor 60° peak torque isokinetic strength and relative isokinetic strength of group Ⅱ(p<.05).
4. There was a significant increased in extensor mean power and total work of group Ⅱ(p<.05).
In conclusion, weight training induces a significant increase in isokinetic strength of Korean dancer. Therefore, these results suggest that weight training program is remarkably need to improve strength and physical fitness of Korean dancer.
