This study examined the effect of submaximal resistance exercise intensity group(SUB=8n) and maximal exercise intensity group(MAX(=9n) on growth hormone(GH) and testosterone responses in untrained men were randomly assigned. Subjects who had not weight trained for a minimum of 5 months participated in the study. One or three sets of bench press, squat thrust, leg extension, and leg curl exercises were performed at a 10-RM load for repetition or until failure. In the SUB work out, the load was 75% of each subject's one set(10RM) for 4 series exercise, and 75% of each subject's three set repetitions for those exercise. Blood samples were collected from a four catheter before exercise, and after the exercise +immediately point, +10 minute, +40 minute in passive recovery and testosterone determinations were corrected for serum volume change. GH significantly increased(p<.05). but between of two groups did not change. These data suggest that SUB and MAX resistive exercise may increase GH and testosterone concentrations, whereas elevated two hormones can be accounted for by exercise-induced intensity alteration.
