The purpose of this paper is to analyze on the Dangun and Old Joseon of the 7th curriculum of high school literature textbooks.
Myth is a cultural result from long national experances as well as a transmission reflecting a collective experance. Dangun Myth dates back to the earliest peried of this country among existing national myths. It reveals Korean views of the universe, history and human being in most systematically ways. Thus it should be noted that the ideas and consciousness of Korean people established based on historical backgrounds of five millennia were derived from Dangun Myth.
Dangun Myth is closely related to the identity of Korean people. The national was examined through the factors of traditional culture : the basic character of Dangun Myth, understanding of folk, idea, respecting ancestors and heaven, etc. Dangun and old Joseon education could be considered as a feasible method of overcoming all social problems through historic awareness of one common destiny community.
Especially in literature education the national humanity spirit will be experienced as vivid literature experience by imagination. The dynamic of Dangun Myth appear efficiently in these days and influence us by transcending times.
