The purpose of this research is to highlight festivities & performance characteristics of Donghaean-Byeolsingut as a Korean traditional performance heritage by measuring it against the modern changes & the act of recreation by its concept structure & performance characteristics.
Human-beings trace for act of public good that is based on the notion of perpetuating peaceful life. This extended concept widens the existing perception of Donghaean-Byeolsingut which was mearly seen as a periodical religious ritual, and becomes the basis for suggesting a new outlook for Donghaean-Byeolsingut.
The core function of Donghaean-Byeolsingut in Yongnam province entails confirming and securing the group identity and sense of bonding among the members of its province. During this process, it encompasses the concept of perpetuating an essential bond among humans, or communities. Other function of Donghaean-Byeolsingut variable structure include : formation of harmonious relationship among deity nature humanbeings, securing the economic foundation for the community, mitigation of suffering & anxiety stemming from leading everyday life.
