This research was designed to investigate the influential factors in the environment of foreign county and international hotel company. Once identified, an attempt was made to determine if there was any relationship which existed between these factors and expansion mode choices when these international hotels attempted expansion into new international markets. This effort was initially influenced by the transaction cost analysis (TCA) which insists firm chooses an expansion mode which minimize the all costs associated with its integration. The TCA stresses the importance of firm-specific assets, uncertainty variables, and free-riding potential. Certain unique characteristics of international hotel business have been considered when selecting the variables for the empirical research. The empirical framework with 8 variables was established and 591 international hotel expansions were included in the sample. Ordered probit/logit models were used to analyzed the sample. The findings from the research included eight propositions that explain the relationships among the influential factors and expansion mode choices in the international hotel companies. Although numerous factors appear to influence a company’s particular choice of expansion mode in a given situation, uncertainty factors show the most significance.
