The purpose of this study was to investigated the effects of dance sport program on the blood pressure and physical fitness in elderly women between the ages of 60~75 years volunteered. The subjects were subdivided into two groups including exercise group (n=16), and control group (n=13). Subjects of exercise group were carried on dance sports exercise program of 1-hour a day, 3-times per week for l2-weeks. Body weight, body mass index (BMI), resting blood pressure, and physical fitness factors were measured before and after the 12 weeks exercise program. The results obtained from this study were as follows. Body weight, BMI, and systolic blood pressure were decreased significantly after exercise program. Also cardiopulmonary function, flexibility, and muscular endurance were increased significantly after exercise program. But balance ability and muscular strength were not changed significantly after exercise program. These results showed that dance sports exercise program is effective in reducing systolic blood pres-sure and promoting cardiopulmonary function for the elderly women. Thus, dance sports exercise program can be recommended as an effective community-based exercise program for cardiovascular risk factors management in healthy aging women.
