Sub-Tropical Hisar revealed the existence of 5 seasons in relation to the life cycle of newly introduced European honeybee Apis mellifera. These were:early summer, late summer, monsoon, autumn and winter. Late summer was very dry and hot, and monsoon exhibited high humidity. Both these seasons formed the dearth period. Early summer and autumn ware the most favourable seasons for honeybee. During winter when ambient temperature fell below 5℃, the honeybee colonies exhibited cluster formation. Over 125 plant species were identified where A. mellifera foraged for nectar and pollen. Of these, 75 plant species represented major pollen and/or nectar sources. A viable cropping pattern of commercial crops grown in this region was identified to provide a continuous forage(pollen and nectar)to this honeybee throughout the year. This region presented two buildup periods viz. in pre-winter(post monsoon)and post winter(early summer) seasons and two honey storage periods one each following the respective build up period. On the basis of climatic conditions, melliferous flora and the cropping pattern, the region was found ecologically very conducive for the year round survival of A. mellifera, which further seemed to be enhanced by suggested management practices.
