In study method, first, I reviewed on Dokdo's history before Japanese annexation of Korea. It was because, at that time, there was no territorial dispute between Korea and Japan. I reasoned they did not fabricate territorial claims on Dokdo because there was no territorial dispute.
Actually, I found that scholars of that times did not twist Dokdo's history. They was aware of that Dokdo was Korean territory. However, in 1905 when they incorporate Dokdo into Japan, they invented twisted argument that Dokdo belonged Japan historically. At that time, Japan barely knew about Dokdo's geography and history. That's why they confused Dokdo with Uleungdo.
In addition, they thought East Sea has three islands of Okido, Dokdo and Uleungdo, which is the evidence that Dokdo is not a Japanese territory.
Second, Korea declared Peace Line and Japan made protest against it, and it was lead to territorial dispute between two countries. Dokdo became a diplomatic dispute between Korea and Japan.
