Due to sufferings, disputes, conflicts and violence in history of Korea, such as numerous foreign invasions, military dictatorship and Korean War, there tends to be a greater desire for peace among Korean people. Nevertheless, Koreans are somewhat unfamiliar with Western slogans like reduction of military expenses or opposition to nuclear weapons, because they are used to feeling helpless under the circumstances of the divided nation and the fear for war. After the summit conference between the North and the South Korea in June 2000, however, a new effort to achieve peace is urgently demanded, and there has been a voice that more civil movements for peace should be activated. In order to overcome the difficulties of the divided nation and replace the previously existing patriarchal and violent culture with peace culture, it would be more than necessary to activate women's peace movement. Thus, this paper reviewed feminist viewpoints on peace and peace movement and proposed a direction and agenda for the Korean women's peace movement.
