Researches on the local history of Seongnam were significantly activated in the 1990s due to the enact of local self-administration. A great deal of research results have been accumulated by local history associate and individuals as well as Seongnam city(城南市), Seongnam Culture Center(성남문화원), Gyungwon University(경원대학교), Gyeonggido(경기도), and the Land Museum(토지박물관). Especially we have found plenty of new information about Namhansansung(南漢山城) in the Joseon dynasty. On the other hand problems and solutions we have founded relating to researches on the local history of Seongnam are as follow. The first, the participations of professional historians for each field should be widely expanded The second research targets should be diversified such as seeking new research subjects or complementing neglected subjects. The third Researches on the local history of Seongnam should be objectively described in the total historic flow. The fourth. Seongnam and Gwangju(廣州) should cooperate in researches such as Namhansansung of which research scopes are overlapped to reduce expenses and time and to elevate research qualities. The fifth, basic data should be well arranged and preserved. The sixth, advertisement and educations about research results are necessary.
