The purpose of the study named "The Korean War in Turkish Literature" is to introduce and study the materials about the Korean War, since it has been an important mark in Turkish literature.
The Turkish public has been informed about the Korean War by the press in via new articles, broadcasts and reports. The Turkish people have also described the Korean War in the form of modem poetry, traditional short stories, novels, theatres and memories. In general, the number of poets outnumber than the other genres, because the writers, encouraged to work with the subject of Korean War, were from the group of non-professionals such as the intellectuals and soldiers. If someone criticized the dispatch of Turkish forces to Korea, they could loose their right to live inpeace at that time, which is why professional writers didn't mention the Korean War until the 1980's. The works about the Korean War in Turkish literature are divided into three categories according to the writer's intention They are, propaganda literature, lyric war literature, and anti-war literature.
In conclusion, these works, reflecting the feeling of the Turkish people, are tremendously important resources valued from a historical and social point of view. Unfortunately, since these written works have not measured up to the higher standards of literature, they haven't been recognized universally. However, the Korean War has utmost importance in Turkish War literature including documentary literature and comparative literature.
