Russian mentality which was formed under the influence of natural environment and history can be characterized, first of all, by collectivism and centralism. And this tradition produced a series of Russian cultural codes: submission to natural phenomenon, obedience to absolute rulers, patriarchism, Dionysian volatility, ascetic and apocalyptic messianism, telepathy, aspirations for the other world, pursuit for absolute ruler, transcendentalism, dogmatism, authoritarianism, bureaucratism, indifference to politics, and xenophobic patriotism.
These cultural codes define the so-called Russian ways of communication, which are based on extreme patience and tolerence, consideration for others, generosity, emphais on emotional aspects, and informality. These aspects can be found in their language expressions as well, since Russians prefer to express themselves obliquely making use of various tropes. In terms of the cross-cultural management we need to understand such seemingly illogical Russian sayings: "It is essential for survival in Russia, to eat when you see some food, to buy something when it shows up, and to accept the given situation without arguments." Russian people's special love for flowers exemplifies their own way of communication: they are ready to spend the last coins in their pockets to buy flowers when they visit friends or go to the concerts.
Russian cultural codes and ways of communication discussed in this article help us to understand Russian mentality and their life style in many respects. However, the hypotheses suggested here should be implemented by further empirical field researches. Now that the decentralized local cultures began to appear since the collapse of Soviet Union, more detailed case studies on the cultural codes of a specific nationality or region should be launched in the future.
