In order to lower the hydration heat of high strength mass concrete and to improve its setting method, concrete using three component system and concrete using low heat cement are mainly used in terms of material, and pre cooling, pipe cooling, block placement, etc. are used in terms of working method. In consideration of the extension of construction period and economic efficiency, however, it is considered somewhat more desirable to control hydration heat in the aspect of material rather than applying various methods in the aspect of working. In the aspect of material, for high strength mass concrete, we need to examine not only the control of hydration heat as in ordinary mass concrete but also the increase of viscosity through high strength and the placement method. In addition, it is considered desirable to increase the amount of admixture through two component system and three component system concrete, which is low heat concrete generally applied to mass concrete, and to control hydration heat by minimizing the mass of powder to be used by using high performance AE water reducing agent.
However, when raw materials such as cement, slag powder and fly ash are simply mixed using a ready mixed concrete car, there can be the problem that the homogeneity and viscosity of concrete increase. In order to solve this problem, the use of low heat blended cement is increasing.
Thus, the present study purposed to compare the basic physical properties, hydration heat and compressive strength of three component system low heat concrete produced through mixing raw materials by ready mixed concrete companies and concrete using low heat blended cement produced by cement companies, and to present basic information for the field application of high strength mass concrete.
