The purpose of this study was to understand the tendency of contemporary architecture through an analysis of relation between 'tectonic expressional characteristics' and 'context' in Critical Regionalism. Critical Regionalism as a critical view about contemporary architecture is based on integrated critical thinking toward a built environment surrounded by regional special facts. Therefore, the architecture is considered the relation with context of the place. In the architectural theory of Critical Regionalism, tectonic expression of place mean that the place is realized as a architecture by tectonic handling.
As a result, the context take a mean as intermediation that connect place and tectonic, and it need to re-interpret the regional context beyond the superficial concept of Postmodernism through critical view.
