Percutaneous penetration studies are usually performed in human skin samples and the ability to perform these studies may depend on the availability of skin samples. Reconstructed human skin models have been proposed as alternatives for human skin to overcome such limitations. This study was carried out in accordance with OECD guidelines on skin absorption test for the comparison of reconstructed human skin models, EFT-306™ and KeraSkinFT™ (both of reconstructed full-thickness skins) with human and pig skin.
