A palynological study on the Jinju Formation in the Eui seong region of Gyeongbuk is accomplished. Out of more than 40 samples processed, palynomorph grains are observed in four samples. Among these, only two samples are palynologically productive so that a quantitative interpretations can be made. Microflora is differentiated into sixteen species representing ten genera of pteridophyte spores and seventeen species belonging to fourteen genera of gymnospermous pollen, and a few grains of fungal spores are included. Any angiospermous pollen or marine plankton is not observed in this study. Biostratigraphically important taxa are Cicatricosisporites pseudotripartitus, C. augustus, Klukisporites southeyensis, Corollina parva, and Equisetosporites virginiaensis. These characteristic taxa indicate the Barremian age for the Jinju Formation. A quantitative analysis shows the significant proportion of Corollina, Cicatricosisporites, and Cyathidites. Presence of Cycadopites and Equisetosporites is also noticed. This composition of the microflora indicates that the Jinju Formation was deposited under a warm and arid climate.
