This study investigates the difference of behavioral patterns between overall arrivals to and arrivals for tourism purpose to Korea. Seasonal patterns in tourist flows are well known characteristics of tourism. This paper, hence, finds that the gap of seasonality between inbound tourists and total arrivals tends to be great if the ratio of inbound tourists to overall arrivals is low. The exchange rate is found to have a negative significant effect on the inbound tourism. The results, however, show that there is a great difference in the exchange rate coefficients of tourists and arrivals. Error correction model indicates that disequilibrium adjustment speed of the arrivals is slower than that of the tourists in Philippine, while the former is faster than the latter in Vietnam. It is because the compositions of arrivals from two countries are different. The dynamic rolling regression illustrates that the influence of exchange rate is getting stronger. This study hitherto applies impulse response functions to the model to get an information regarding the responses of arrivals and tourists to the shocks in the exchange rate. The result shows that both tourists and arrivals respond negatively to the shock in the exchange rate and decay very slowly. The responses of Philippines are small relative to those of Vietnam, and those of Vietnamese arrivals are especially greater rather than Vietnamese tourists.
