The objectives of this study are to review case examples on environment-friendly site selection and environment-friendly land use plans on each type of various development projects undertaken in Gyeonggi province and provide (case example-focused) guidelines for developing environment-friendly plans that can be considered when the province and its cities/counties establish various development plans and initiate development plans in the future.
Key findings are as follows. First, a total of 2,465 development projects spanning 173㎢ were undertaken in Gyeonggi province in recent three years. This is equivalent to three times of the area of Anyang city. Second, types of development projects were in the order of factories and industrial parks, road construction, town (housing estates) development, sports facilities and waste treatment facilities. Public projects accounted for about 30%, while private investment projects represented 70%, indicating that private sector projects were as twice as high. Third, based on the analysis of 16 development projects in four types, about 20 considerations for environment-friendly location were suggested. In addition, 56 environment-friendly review criteria were suggested for each assessment item by setting at least three alternatives.
Going forward, if discussion case examples by project type, environment-friendly location criteria by project type, and environment friendly review criteria by assessment item suggested in this study are fully utilized when initiating or approving various development projects in the future, environment-friendliness will be enhanced in development projects.
