The purpose of the paper is to survey ICC's standard commercial terms, Incoterms, for daily use in international sales contracts throughout the world. Incoterms were published in September 1999 and were revised for the new millennium for development in commercial practice.
Incoterms 2000 are designed to define the responsibility of both buyer and seller in contracts effective from January 1, 2000 in international trade and are scheduled to be printed as Publication 560. Substantive changes will occur in two areas: (1) the customs clearance and payment of duty obligations under FAS and DEQ; and (2) loading and unloading obligations under FCA.
