The author in this manuscript explore several different evolutionary trajectories of the marriage story of Jumong who is the founding father of Koguryeo This study makes inference about why the marriage story is found in other stories but does not appear in the Jumong myth. I reconstruct the story in Jumong myth including the marriage part and then claim that the story has the archetype of any hero
Characteristics of the Jumong's marriage can be summarized in three aspects: 1) Jumong did not get married in Boo-Yeo before founding Koguryeo, 2) his marriage story, also appearing in stories on King Yuri and King Onjo, is different according to the versions-especially related literature reports that Jumong got married in Boo-Yeo and gave birth to King Yuri, and 3) four stories telling Jumong having gotten married to a Jolbon lady have been transmitted. This shows the historical fact that he got married to a lady of a tributary tribe.
The author also estimated the reasons for the marriage stories containing stories of other persons as follows. When King TaeJo included the myth of King Yuri in Koguryeo myth, King Yuri automatically became his son. This is because the other sons of Jumong, Bi-Ryu and OnJo, are wipe out of the story. However, They brought to BaekJae the version where Jumong appears as his father.
Finally, I reconstructed the story of Jumong myth that includes the marriage story. I considered that this restores the archetype originality when the myth is compared with others. These mythical stories are very similar in content and structure.
