This paper investigates core competence of international trade professionals in South Korea. We found that the understanding of trade practice, the understanding of international market and foreign culture, communication in foreign language, the ability of using computer and e-commerce, business manner and adaptability in foreign business trip, communication with foreign business partner, the ability of clearing problems, and knowledge with skills for exporting products are core competences of international trade professionals in South Korea.
Online survey was performed for a month in May 2009. A total of 504 employee's data was acquired and we discarded 39 samples because of their inconsistency. Ultimately, 465 data were used for the analysis. The understanding for trade practice was shown as highest 5.54 point out of 7, the ability of using computer and e-commerce was lowest 4.90. The average of core competence was 5.24, and that is relative high.
By covariance structure analysis we found that both career development and training in organization positively influence core competences of international trade professionals. And core competence positively influences organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and employee performance.
