Among the literary works in the 20th century, there may be no such case of German expressionistic prose that has not aroused interests of the readers. Except for some early short stories and full-length novels by F. Kafka and A. Doblin, the proses at the time of expressionism were of the interests of any readers but just an obligatory readings of literary historians. Moreover, these proses have primarily been published at the magazines such as Die Aktion or Der Sturm, which were not been read widely at that times. In addition, readers were very hard to understand these literary works since the proses based on the expressionism generally have abnormal words and styles as well as very daring and hazardous forms and contents. Therefore, the expressionistic proses have been hard to be read so far these days and thus, it is difficult to find out general and specific researches or the history for this field today. Even in few researches for these proses, they mostly underestimate or describe them negatively.
Thus, to call your attention to the expressionistic prose and to promote understanding of it, we have investigated its main theme, motive and characteristics of words and styles. After this, we have studied the common features and differences in the descriptive techniques and styles between Doblin and C. Einstein, who are the two well-known researchers in the field of the expressionistic prose. Subsequently, we have compared the novelistic technique and the motive of Kafka afterwards， who has been disputable up to now about whether he belongs to the expressionism or not, with those of other expressionistic writers. We have presented the basis that he is a prose writer based on the expressionism as well. By these intensive inquiries well-known Kafka and Doblin' prose have raised the level of the modern German literature to that of the World literature. With regard to a characteristic theme and form of expressionism. We'd like to pave the way for the activation of the researches for the expressionistic prose.
Finally, it would be valuable enough to research on the German expressionistic prose and the works of D' Annunzion of Italy, Flaubert and Gide of France， who had great effects on German expressionistic prose form the viewpoint of comparative literature in aspects of novelistic technique and style. It is thought that this study make it possible to attract much more public attentions for the German expressionistic prose of that period.
