The purpose of this paper is to exam how mechanical engineering faculties perceive evaluating system in Korean colleges. As most of professors are devoted to their researches, they don't have enough time to do educational works. They know that teaching should be considered equal to research, but they can’t help putting it prior to research. It is difficult to achieve tenure without research performance in Korean engineering colleges. As a result, at the many research based institutions, the focus of evaluation becomes to move from undergraduate education to research.
The present study is to review Korean mechanical engineering faculties' perception of evaluation from a research by Braxton J. M., Luckey, W. Helland, P. And we will suggest how to change evaluation system for emphasizing engineering education and research at the same time.
