The purpose of this dissertation is to divide interjections into a few categories by analyzing them in the dictionary. The reason why every dictionary has different interjection classes is that it doesn't have consistent criteria when it comes to select headword.
In particular, it is hard to distinguish between the word which is used as an interjection and the word which is used as lexical interjection, which makes it confusing to set interjection grouping.
Therefore, in this dissertation in order to classify category of interjections we study the list of interjections in the dictionary and take a look at the relationship between the interjection and other word classes such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.
First of all the concepts and features of interjections are studied. Because the interjection is used to express the speaker's current mental state and internal emotion, anomalous varieties are occurred in terms of phonology and morphology.
The words which have similar structure coming from vowel and consonant exchange are used to show nuance in them. Another characteristic the interjections have is that it is independent from other parts of speech in a sentence.
The next objective this paper pursues is to make sure the reliability which is used to categorize interjections by investigating the list of interjections in the dictionary. In particular, based on the words which are classified as word class with diverse functions the list of headword is reexamined in this paper.
Interjection is used not only to express emotions of the speaker but to call, respond and greet someone.
