Korean Deaf people also use the Chinese characters with Korean Sign Language(KSL) such as Koreans use the Chinese characters with Hangeul. The purpose of this research is to analyze the lexical item of Chinese Characters of KSL.
The Chinese characters with KSL are total 38. Data was collect from the KSL dictionaries, paper survey and the examination of the Chinese characters with KSL in real life through the field.
The Chinese characters with KSL was analyze into four type of word formation. The first is the construction of a character with hand shape.- 山, 三, 小, 仁, 田, 井, 中, 洪, 發, 釜, 業, 全, 兆, 華. The second is the writing on the air with hand movement.-分, 乙, 人, 千, 寸, 百. The third is the association of the first type and the second type.-大, 尹, 申, 丁, 州, 川, 刑, 公. The fourth is the association hand location and hand shape. The hand location is core feature.-江, 口, 京, 道, 豆, 牧, 私, 李, 鄭, 崔.
The word productivity of the construction of a character with hands is high than others. The word formation type of the writing by finger before a person on the air is used within 3 number of the strokes in the Chinese characters with KSL. The hand location in relation to the body are face in the Chinese characters with KSL.
