    Yangsan Fault is not a single discrete break but a fault zone composed of numerous closely spaced subparallel faults, fault gouge and fault breccia. Yangsan Fault seems to terminate gradually at northern part of the study area with horse - tail bifurcation, reduction of width of fault zone and absence of intensely fractured zone. According to the data of fracture development, the fracture distribution patterns show negative exponential pattern or log - normal pattern with 8~15 cm fracture spacing at the distant margin of the fault zone, whereas they show normal distribution pattern with 1.2cm fracture spacing at the center. The paleostress analysis of secondary fractures associated with Yangsan Fault in the study area reveals five events of fault movement: (1) N 20° - 40°E minor faults moved with dextral slip sense by ENE - WSW compression & NNW - SSE extension, (2) the same attitude minor faults were reactivated sequentially with normal sense movement by NW - SE extension and (3) with dextral slip sense movement by ENE - WSW compression & NNW - SSE extension, (4) N 60° - 80°E minor faults were generated and moved with sinistral slip sense by NNE - SSW compression & WNW - ESE extension, and (5) WNW - ESE compression created thrust minor faults which cut all of the existing faults. Consequently, Yangsan Fault underwent at least three times of strike - slip movements and two times of dip - slip movements with the initial formation.
