    Structural mapping was conducted in the area around the Hambaegsan fault, eastern part of the Samcheog coalfield. Structural pattern was compared between the eastern and western part of the Hambaegsan fault. For this, styles of folds and faults, and microstructures of cataclastic rocks were described and compared. In the eastern part of the area, parallel type and open to gentle folds by interlimb angle were dominant, while tangential longitudinal strain folds and close to open folds were dominant in the western part of the of the area. Microtextures varied from micro breication and fracturing to micro-shear zone due to grain size of the sandstone. In the balanced cross section, steep and reverse faults were dominant in the eastern part and low angle thrust faults were dominat in the western part of the Hambaegsan faults. It indicates that the intensity and pattern of deformation were slightly different between two areas.
