초록· 키워드

The study focused on the selectivity and residential characteristics of migration in Gyeonggi-Do. For selectivity of migration, age, education, employment, household numbers, housing tenure, housing type, and floor area of house are investigated with respect to migrant types among nonmover, intracity-mover and intercity-mover population. Also, migration selectivity and residential characteristics in terms of population structure, single-person households, urban and rural types of city are investigated. Population and Housing Census 2% sample data of 1995, 2000 and 2005 was mainly used for the study.
The characteristics of migration were explored like the results of previous studies as generally known. In other words, the young is more likely to migrate than older individuals. Higher level education are generally associated with higher rates of mobility. The household with larger family members less frequently move than single individuals. Renters are more mobile than homeowners. The residents in single housing units less migrate than those in apartments.
However, some different results were shown with respect to the population structure, single-person households, and urban and rural types of city. For example, housing types in single-person households did not have any difference in migrant types. The study suggested that special concern should be raised for population ageing specially in rural area, and for the two extreme characteristics in single-person households, and housing and regional plan should be considered with spatial pattern of migration.
