This research is carried out to analyze the relation among empowerment, players’ satisfaction, and organizational commitment according to leadership types of basketball coaches in middle and high schools in order to identify methods for improving management of players and leadership of coaches, and provide positive implications of basketball. The subjects of this study were basketball players registered in Korea Basketball Association and set as population. The number of sampling was 200 copies of questionnaires; however, the effective samples were148 copies excluding 52 copies whose answers were not sincere or omitted in some parts. Data were handled by statistic program SPSS 15.0, and significance level was set as 0.05. Data were analyzed by methods of t-test, one-way ANOVA, and regression analysis.
After taking all results into consideration, transformational leadership among types of leadership significantly influence empowerment and empowerment significantly affect players’ satisfaction and organizational commitment. Therefore, it is the most suitable and effective method for basketball coaches of middle and high school to give players objectives and goals of athletics, and its value through elevating self confidences and responsibilities of players with concern and consideration, and raising capability of athletics and motivation.
