It is generally held in textlinguistics that clause is the basic unit which constitutes a text. Clause is described and explained through several approaches. The current study analyzes 217 clauses from 5 texts(Korea Herald) in order to identify the modified Clause-Constitution Rule of Text Grammar. The results show that the Clause-Constitution Rule 1) identified the syntactic functions on all the surface structures of the texts by allotting the tags, 2) described and explained why the linguistic expressions are ordered in those orders by parameters(Addition, Deletion, Movement), and how readers process the clauses cognitively. It is expected that the development of cognitive and computer processing model will be forthcoming and a pedagogic method and strategy will be formulated at a future date.
