Rapid societal transitions confront people, today, causing an uncertain and chaotic environment. The more people are exposed to desperate situations, the more they seek strong leaders. This review of the leadership literature identifies the key characteristics of leaders and explains what is needed to sustain them through crises, anxiety, confusion, and conflict. This review also suggests three fundamental tasks for Christian leadership education. The first is global leadership education based on principles learned from biblical narratives of leadership. The second is relationship education based on communal relationships. The third is spiritual wisdom in recognizing world situations and realities.
