Resilient materials are required to have capacity of reducing floor impact sound and isolating thermal transfer. Nowadays, products with low dynamic stiffness are used to increase the capacity of reducing floor impact noise. However, even though low dynamic stiffness has an advantage in reducing floor impact sound, it can cause a structural problems in Ondol layer system, jeopardizing structural sustainability of the system. The demand for the assessment of structural safety of the Ondol layer system is increasing, but there are currently few ways to appropriately assess it. Therefore, this research aims to analyze method of compressibility and to measure basic characteristics ? dynamic stiffness, density, thermal conductivity, and compressibility - of resilient materials, currently used in domestics accordingly to the ISO standardization. In addition, some conditions of ISO standardization are changed as a process of preparation of new assessment method that can be fit to the domestic conditions. According to the measurement results, it is hard to define correlations among dynamic stiffness, density, thickness, and types of materials. However, dynamic stiffness is considered to influence compressibility in some degrees since its coefficient of determination is recorded as 0.71. Other variables such as loading speed, size of specimen and compression rod is considered to have some effects on compressibility. In order to develop more appropriate method of compressibility, conditions of assessments are need to be more clearly defined.
