The present study aimed to explore the effect of film-based English-Korean translation teaching on the improvement of English production skills of adult learners, which include speaking, writing, and vocabulary. 15 students were participated, and pre and post-tests, a questionnaire and interviews were employed to collect data. The quantitative phase of this study revealed that the film-based English-Korean translation teaching was an effective way to improve the production skills of English, showing that all four sub-skills of speaking (grammar, vocabulary, fluency and pronunciation), two sub-skills of writing (organization and Logics), and four sub-skills of vocabulary (three categories of single-word using area and one category of multi-word using area) were improved. The qualitative phase of this study also revealed that the participants recognized the effectiveness of film-based English-Korean translation teaching on the improvement of English production skills. The qualitative phase of this study also suggested that factors such as context-based learning, the enlargement of vocabulary, and self-confidence were interacting for the improvement of such production skills when a film-based English-Korean translation teaching methodology was applied. Pedagogical implications were briefly provided.
