To define the problem of stack effect, we usually examine the pressure distribution using field measurement or simulation. Current limit values for pressure differencs of doors to open it for escaping are defined in ASHRAE Research Project 661 or DIN 33411. However, it is difficult to adopt current limit value as a guidline to solve the stack effect related problems in high-rise residential buildings.
In this study, the resident complaints for stack effect was analyzed by field measurement and simulation. From the results, the complaints were analyzed as a pressure difference and the problems caused by stack effect can be predicted from the weather and building conditions.
