Oh Young-Jin is well known for writer who had national awareness or used traditional materials, because his family was linked with independence movements during the Japanese colonial period and he took an interest in national problems after independence. However, this way, which we have just explained him as, has an important problem, for his a work, Maeng Jinsa Family's’ Festivities has rewritten as a play and has played continually from the Japanese colonial period to the present. Therefore, we have to find another way to valuate him and his works. According to his reviews of films, he knew artistry and popularity of films, so he placed value in 'life' of audiences to realize two values in films. Consequently, materials of Maeng Jinsa Family's Festivities are not connected with nation or tradition. They are just people's 'life' at that time. But he could not realize his idea of films, because premodern concept inhered in the traditional wedding, a main material of Maeng Jinsa Family's Festivities. Furthermore, a film had a problem as a genre too. A film has only to depend on capital, so a film activity was influenced by the Japanese colonial power at that time. As a result, Oh Young-Jin understanded Korean people's 'life' and characteristics of films and wanted to make a film for Korean people at that time, but his work and film activity had limitations.
