Globalization enforces international moves of haman capitals more faster. Nowadays policies on multi-cultural societies have been concerned as increasing the number of immigration into Korea. In this context, It is necessary to consider spatial distribution and formation causes of foreign residential areas in an urban planning field with the concept of immigration circuits suggested by Saskia Sassen, a world-city system theorist. Spatial distribution of foreign residential areas in Seoul Metropolitan Area is understood and the casual relationship is analyzed by a regression model, using statistics of Korea Immigration Service, Ministry of Justice, Korea. The results show that overall foreign residential distribution is affected by existing ethnic enclaves and knowledge-based industry areas. But, considering immigration circuits, there are differences between a professional group and a working group. The working group"s residential choices are influenced by existing ethnic enclaves, manufacturing industry areas, whereas the professional group"s are influenced by existing ethnic enclaves, knowledge-based industry areas.
