The present study aims at analyzing reductions of carbon emission targeted on the so-called Low-Carbon Green Villages(LCGVs) within new towns having been put into practice at home as a project initiative to cope with weather change caused by the global warming. More specifically, the analysis was carried out in a way inducing positive scenario and passive scenario focused on such four locations as Dongtan-2, Keomdan and Tangjeong New Towns including Songsan Green City under construction currently. The analytic result based on the passive scenario demonstrated carbon reductions by 28.3% on average when applying for the governmental objective preset to achieve 30% sharing by passive houses, 10% transportation ratio by bicycles and 16.9% of resource circulation ratio, which is quite identical to the national goal for greenhouse gas reductions. Meanwhile, the finding in terms of the positive scenario indicated 58.8% of carbon reduction ratio achievable based on the model cases in advanced countries, to wit, with the application of passive houses to all buildings, operation of two common vehicles per 100 households and 80% of resource circulation ratio. The attempt by this research is meaningful to provide the basic data getting closer to understanding of the carbon-lowering effect in LCGVs to be constructed in the future, though it has limitations in the aspects of incorporation of the cost-efficient carbon reduction target and incentive measures for solving high cost given the fact that the result analyzfact that the result analyzed was overwhelmingly focused on carbon reductions.
