Injuries of occupants in a vehicle have been decreased considerably. However, efforts for protection of pedestrians are still insufficient. and pedestrian protection has been an important issue to get a high NCAP rating and to satisfy enhanced regulation. These days, many advanced industries are striving for a better protection of pedestrians by using an active hood lift system. In this research, the active hood lift system is designed to lift all corners and a optical fiber sensor is used. All actuators can be reversible by spring and locking unit. The result of headform impact test shows a dramatic decrease to reduce head injury criteria (HIC).
