Though C-EPS has already been applied in compact cars and it’s expanding to midsize cars, development of stiffness, wear resistance, and dimensional stability of the warm-wheel which made up of plastic is getting essential depending on the increase of motor’s output. For a material of warm-wheel, plastic is mostly using because of its outstanding noise control characteristics. As applied materials, PA66, PA6 and PPS are mainly using. PPS gets less expands when it is expose to an atmosphere of moisture and has advantages of heat resistance, stiffness, wear resistance. However, it has weakness of bad impact resistance, so it’s brittle. To overcome the limitations of PPS, we have tried to make a superior PPS for warm-wheel which has same ability of wear resistance, dimensional stability with existing PPS and has magnificently developed in the property of impact resistance through polyolefin blending. By blending three materials (EBA(Ethylene-butyl acrylate), EMMA(Ethylene Methacrylic Methyl Acid), GMA(Glycidyl Methacrylate) affiliated with polyolefin to PPS, we focused on the improvement in toughness according to the betterment of impact resistance and elongation. Also we tried to find Miscibility relationship between materials affiliated with polyolefin and PPS and the blending rate that we can obtain the best properties.
