Genetic gaze that regards peoples and languages of Homo sapiens in a special way is dependent upon the multi-disciplinary context constructed not only by many fields of the modern life science, especially population genetics, but also by those of the humanities and social science. Firstly, it gives due attention to the human history recorded in the human DNA and genome, which can be decoded by the molecular experiments. The genetic gaze regards an ethnic group as a population of individuals who, in general, outbreed each other, but display variable marriage patterns either locally or historically. Every ethnic group has worldwide and local migration-settlement history. Languages differentiate by way of geographical divergence between two isolating human populations. However, language replacement often occurs by mobile ethnic groups like nomads. In the genetic gaze, language capability is a polygenic trait that has been adopted by the species of Homo sapiens. From the integrative perspective based upon the recent archaeological findings, the hypothesis proposed by a great linguist of the Altai language family, and the human migration-settlement history and population genetics of the Northeast Asia, the people and language of Korea are likely to have derived from the population who spoke the proto-Altaic language during the Neolithic culture about 7~8000 years ago, the first in the whole Northeast Asia. They have migrated to and settled in the plain located in the southern part of the Great Hsinganring Mountains that runs from the northeast to the southwest, ranging from the eastern Mongolia to the Inner Mongol and Western Liaoning region in China. This genetic gaze that may provide more definitive clues to the genetic and linguistic relationships among the peoples and languages in the Northeast Asia, including Korean and Manchus, encourages more systematic multi- disciplinary approaches based on human population genetics in the near future.
