The main purpose of this study was focused on supplying concrete data of improving and revitalizing male-senior-citizens’ recreational life and understanding the proper reason of the senior male citizens’ low participation rate on the exercise programs. The followings are consequences of the study that were based on collected data from qualitative research method such as an in-depth interview and participating observation. First, senior male citizens’ participation rate was extremely lower than senior female citizens’ rate. Second, severe disproportion was indicated on senior male citizens’ participation depending on types of exercise programs at the senior community center. Third, the cause of the constraint on participating exercise programs was appeared on senior male citizens who had difficulties on adapting identity changes due to loss of social consciousness due to their recognition on creating intimate family network as a new challenge. Fourth, by comparing with females, senior male citizens had relatively higher feeling of a sense of alienation when they participated on programs and also they were negatively affected due to the aware of others’ attention. Fifth, the lack of senior male citizens’ participation programs was appeared because the programs at senior community centers were mostly designed for female senior citizens. At last, due to the communication problems, which senior male citizens proposals and security issues were mostly not accepted by the community center.
