This study is to have considered the radio hearing trend and the situations radio drama, from the late 1950s to the beginning of 1970’s. This hearing trend divided by broadcasting stations, listener tendencies, time zones and hearing field through research and broadcast criticism. And analyzed the boom phenomenon around radio dramas, especially considered about problems of a melodrama.
Hearing trend by a broadcasting station, it was competitive times of KBS and CBS in 1960’s. However, hearing rate of the KBS that a network was wide, was sole master of the stage of KBS. Afterwards, MBC, DBS, TBC appeared and a competitive column is keen between governmental broadcasting Co. Ltd and a privately-managed broadcasting company. Besides privately-managed broadcasting company’s hearing rate appeared high, and, specially, hearing rate of TBC was high.
It was exposed to a feminine dominant listener in hearing trends by listener tendencies and at time zone, appeared in approximately 5 hours daily average hearing, and the night 7:00~9:00 was exposed by a golden time zone. Entertainments recreation section was higher than culture programs.
And, specially, hearing rate of a drama appeared the highest. According to this radio drama boom rose, and drama competition was keen every each broadcasting company. Also, specific gravity of a melodrama was high, genres of a radio drama. However, the melo drama in contents planes were criticized. And the reason of melodrama was strong, there were a lot of the cases that a drama is made a movie.
