The purpose of the paper is to review current trends and future issues of automotive HMI (Human Machine Interface) which is generally called in automotive industry, involving the concepts of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). The current trends include 1) intuitive interface design, 2) Optimization of HMI while driving 3) quantitative evaluation for HMI, and 4) global HMI. The future issues of automotive HMI cover 1) HMI for intelligent driver assistance system, 2) HMI for Eco-Vehicles, 3) IT-related HMI, 4) driver distraction, and 5) differentiation from other vehicles based on ergonomics.
