Objective: This study investigated changes in 2-back task performance of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) children when the concentration of oxygen administration was varied (21% or 92%). Background: The highly concentrated oxygen induced improvement of cognitive abilities via increasing the percentage of correct answers or reducing response time for nomal young adults. Method: It recruited totally 13 children (12.9±1.3 years) with ADHD. The experiment consisted of 2-back task performed under two conditions (21% and 92%). Each run consisted of three phases: adaptation of oxygen (1 min.), control (2 min.), and 2-bak task (2 min.). Results: There was a significant decrease in reaction time in the presence of 92% oxygen compared with the 21% oxygen condition. Conclusion: This result supports the hypothesis that hyperoxic air increase oxygen saturation level in the blood, lead to more available oxygen to the brain, thus increase the ability of cognitive processing of ADHD children. Application: It expected improvement of life quality for the cognitive impairment persons.
