The purpose of the study is on investigating the method of promoting tourism by understanding the structure analysis of current demand for tourism through examining the regional feature and its present state of Jumunjin, the urban-rural integration region. This study also aims to provide the practical implications for expanding tourism industry by being the basic information on establishing the efficient policy on tourism which can bring contribution to the economic vitality of the urban-rural integration region and the improvement of the quality of life of its inhabitants.
The case study was limited to the area of Jumunjin, the urban-rural integration region in Gangneung. The methodological approach of the study includes both a documentary research referring the existing materials and an empirical study. For the empirical study, a structure analysis of the demand for tourism was done through finding out the absolute rate of change and the relative component structure of the tourists in Gangneung and Jumunjin area.
The result of the study shows the need of the following three; first, the need forestablishing the tourism policy that accommodates the change of the tourism behavior of tourists, second, developing tour packages that include the variety of tourism resources and the regional characteristic of the marine tourism, third, establishing the differentiated development strategies of tourism that can overcome its seasonal variations.
