Banded gastroplasty to reduce food intake in patients who are morbidly obese is being increasingly applied in Korea due to its simplicity and low risk. However, the long term results of this procedure are not yet established, and the complications from the band itself are reported to be as high as twenty percent. One of the most disabling complications of banded gastroplasty is persistent vomiting, and this is associated with gastric stenosis. We attempted to relieve this discomfort by performing laparoscopic assisted distal gastrectomy and gastrojejunostomy, and we observed good results.
