The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of integrated musical activities on the developments of young children’s behaviors and musical skills. In this study, twenty six 3 year-old children each as an experimental group and as a comparison participated. The experimental group in a nursery school was trained 20 times for 25 minutes over a 13 week period by integrated musical activities related to musical, art and science regions. The comparison group in another nursery school had only regular musical classes. Both groups were given a pre-test and post-test to check the developments of their behaviors and musical skills. Data of the tests were analyze by ANCOVA. For the behaviors, the experimental group showed higher scores for body, recognition, sociality, and emotions than the comparison group. However, there was no significant difference in the score of language between the two groups. For the musical skills, the experimental group gave higher scores for listening, rhythm expression, playing musical instruments, and musical originality than comparison group. Otherwise, there was no significant in the score of singing between the two groups. Therefore, these results suggest that the integrated musical activities are effective for the developments of young children’s behaviors and musical skills expect for language and singing.
